The United State of Women, When We All Vote, and Girls Inc. is hosting an "Unfinished Fights, Unsung Heroes: Centering Women of Color in the Voting Rights Movement" panel. This event will occur during the When All Women Vote Week of Action, August 17-20, where we will call on women and girls to engage in having difficult conversations about voting rights and register their communities to vote. Through this powerful panel discussion, we hope to bring together activists and historians to explore the complicated history of the 19th Amendment and the lessons it teaches us about voting rights today. Our panelists, through an intergenerational lens, will examine the historic disenfranchisement of Black and Brown communities, highlight the need to protect and expand voting rights for marginalized communities, and celebrate the women of color who have fought for the last century to make the promise of the 19th Amendment a reality for ALL women. Attendees will leave this conversation inspired to continue the fight and equipped with the tools they need to have crucial conversations about voting rights and the intersection of gender and race this election season.
