Join Busboys and Poets for an event celebrating two new children's books by black women authors and illustrators, exploring the varied expanse of a mother's love, and ever-growing black history.

Jamia Wilson is the executive director and publisher of the Feminist Press. Wilson has contributed to the New York Times, The Today Show, CNN, Teen Vogue, Elle, Refinery 29, and more. She is the author of Young, Gifted, and Black (Quarto) and wrote the oral history in Together We Rise (Dey Street/HarperCollins).

Elise Peterson is a writer, visual artist and educator living and working in New York. Her writing has appeared in Adult, Paper Magazine, Elle, Lenny Letter, and Nerve among others. She is currently the host of MANE, an online video series highlighting the intersection of culture and hair as told through the narratives of women via Now This News.

This event is co-sponsored by The Feminist Press, an educational nonprofit organization founded to advance women's rights and amplify feminist perspectives.
