  • Black Girls Book Club A4 A4, London WC2N 5DU London, England United Kingdom (map)

In keeping with our mission to ensure that in 2018 every single one of us is living our very best lives; Black Girls Book Club is very proud to present the second edition to our ‘Conversations with...’ series with all round incredible author of ‘Young, Gifted and Black’ Jamia Wilson.

‘Conversations with...’ is an opportunity to have all of the brilliance and Black Girl Joy that comes with our infamous ‘Black Girls are Magic Brunch’ but in an intimate setting with a renowned author. So, expect booze, brunch, books as always.

Join us alongside Jamia as we discuss; why it’s important to have books like Young, Gifted and Black. Why we need platforms like BGBC. What we can do to do to shake tables and step on peoples necks to ensure that we have equal and fair representation in literature.

About the author:

"Jamia Wilson is many things: An activist. A feminist. A storyteller. A mediamaker. But more than anything, she is a natural-born thought leader. As Executive Director and Publisher of Feminist Press at City University of New York, the former Women, Action, and the Media Executive Director, TED PrizeStoryteller, and former Vice President of Programs at The Women’s Media Center, Jamia has been a powerful force in the social justice movement for nearly a decade. As a leading voice on feminist and women’s rights issues, her work and words have appeared in and on several outlets such as New York MagazineThe Today Show, and The Washington Post. She’s also a staff writer for Rookie and has contributed to several books such as Madonna and Me: Women Writers on the Queen of Pop, and I Still Believe Anita Hill. But what we’re most excited about is her own book that she’s currently writing about Beyonce and feminism. (Yes, really.) It’s no surprise she was named in Refinery29’s “17 Faces of the Future of Feminism.” excerpt from www.jamiawilson.com

Black Girls Book Club are committed to ensuring that Black women in the UK and beyond are consistently given the opportunity to come together in luxury settings surrounded by dope women, good food and an abundance of #blackgirlmagic. BGBC is not a networking event; it’s a lifestyle.
