Tech Feminist Workshop w/ Ladies Learning Code

With less than 16% of Wikipedia editors identifying as female, Wikipedia has been criticized for hosting less extensive articles about women or topics important to women. This lack of female editors on Wikipedia creates many of the same challenges we see for technology as a whole. How can we ensure articles are relevant for women and that women are represented equally in history?

We need more women participating as editors! On February 15th, we are proud to be hosting a feminist edit-a-thon in partnership with the eQuality Project & OCTEVAW to bring together our incredible community in this city and bring some much-needed new knowledge to Wikipedia.

No experience necessary with editing or wikipedia but, you will need to bring a laptop (or let us know if you’ll need access to an extra one – we can facilitate that too!). All feminists & genders welcome!

Join in this opportunity to really focus on the impact of online harassment and to center and create visibility around grassroots movements with fresh approaches and frameworks to challenging it in our own backyards!
